The district museum sits in a 1920s merchant's villa off Longjin West Road, and its draw is the reconstructed Xiguan mansion next door — the house type named after this quarter: triple street doors (the sliding tanglong grille you see everywhere in old Guangzhou), Manchu-window coloured glass, a cool grey-brick shell around a sequence of halls. Five yuan at the door, no booking needed, closed Mondays. It is the fastest way to understand what 'Xiguan' means before you walk it.
