The 1893 ancestral hall that every Chen family in Guangdong paid into, and the most decorated building in the province: brick, stone and wood carving, pottery and lime-plaster ridges, cast iron and murals, all on one 15,000 m² complex now run as the Guangdong Folk Art Museum. Since 1959 the halls have held the province's folk crafts — Guangzhou embroidery, Canton enamel, Shiwan ceramics. It is the one sight in Xiguan with a real ticket (¥10), a real official website and a Tuesday closure that catches people out.

Book online only, real-name, on the WeChat official account 广东民间工艺博物馆 (Services → 预约购票; up to 7 days ahead — city table). Once online tickets sell out there are none at the gate. Morning slot check-in 9:00-14:00, afternoon 12:00-17:00 (17:30 from 15 Apr to 15 Oct); exempt groups (under 6 or under 1.3 m, 65+, disabled, military and others) walk in with ID.
