Baiyun Cable Car
The gondola from beside the South Gate to the summit plaza: 1,617 m, 198 m of climb, about five and a half minutes in an 8-seat Doppelmayr cabin — the way up the mountain for anyone who does not want the road. Prices are set by the city's pricing commission, not the park: ¥25 up, ¥20 down, and a cable ticket also counts as your mountain entry, so the ¥5 gate ticket is not needed if you ride. Tickets are sold at the lower station; it stops in strong wind, thunderstorms and typhoon closures.
Ticket window at the lower station beside the South Gate. Since 3 April 2020 the bureau's WeChat official account 白云山风景名胜区 has taken real-name timed bookings, collected at the window with a Chinese ID card (2020 notice) — whether that still runs, or a passport works, is not published: go to the windowVerified · source published 2026-10Source ↗
No ID rule for standard entry; concessions require proof. Not published for full-price window tickets; the 2020 booking notice asked for a Chinese ID card to collect a booked ticket, and the half-price and free categories (children by height, 65+, disabilities, retired military) need ID under the 2025 pricing letter
Walk from the South Gate area to the lower station on the east side of Yuntai Garden, pay ¥25 at the window, ride 5-6 minutes to the summit plaza; the cable ticket replaces the ¥5 mountain ticket, so do not buy both.
Weekend and holiday afternoons queue at the lower station for the ride up; going up early and coming down by shuttle or on foot avoids both queues.
Signs at the stations are bilingual; the ticket window is Chinese-speaking.
