Two short lanes just inside the South Gate on the west side — Defu Lane and Xiangzimiao Street — that hold the old town's only real strip of bars, coffee houses and small restaurants, a five-minute walk from the wall and from Shuyuan Men. This is where to go for a drink after the wall at night: the Muslim Quarter does not serve alcohol and the night street at the pagoda is a crowd. Nothing to see; it opens late.
