Wukang Building
The flat-iron apartment block of 1924 (Hudec's Normandie Apartments) at the fork of Huaihai Middle Road and Wukang Road — Shanghai's most photographed residential building. There is nothing to enter: it is a lived-in block with shops on the ground floor. The point is the view from the opposite pavement, and the police cordon that appears on that pavement whenever the corner gets too full.
Holiday and weekend afternoons fill the corner until police cordon it: the district's May 2025 plan triggers dispersal and a rope line once the junction passes 70% capacity, and on May Day 2026 Xuhui police used soft barriers and designated photo spots. Weekday mornings before 9 are the only quiet window.
