A rare red-brick survivor in the Bund lineup — the 1906 Butterfield & Swire office building, five minutes south of where most tourists turn back. Restored over 940 days after a 2020 structural scare and reopened in late 2022, its atrium hides a 25-metre mural under a glass dome; the open spaces are normally walkable in business hours. Note the address: Zhongshan East 2nd Road, south of Yan'an Road.
